Global Scholars Join GluGene Therapeutics’ Newly Activated Scientific Advisory Board

GluGene Therapeutics (CEO Moonsoo Lee) announced on the 1st that it has established a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). GluGene Therapeutics is a biotech venture developing precision-targeted adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors, with a proprietary AAV-based capsid engineering platform technology.

The SAB’s key advisors are Professor David Schaffer, an endowed chair professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and Professor Gyun-Min Lee, Vice President of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Through this advisory board, the company plans to strengthen the credibility and commercial scalability of its platform technology while expanding its network across the global academic and industrial communities.

Professor Schaffer is recognized as a pioneer in the fields of AAV capsid engineering and directed evolution. He has led the founding, IPO, and M&A of seven U.S. biotech ventures, including the Nasdaq-listed 4DMT (4D Molecular Therapeutics).

Professor Lee is regarded as a leading authority in animal cell culture processes, cell engineering, and large-scale manufacturing process optimization. He also continues to provide national-level advisory and leadership in efforts to secure leadership in global biopharmaceutical manufacturing (CMC).

According to the company, both advisors served as doctoral supervisors to GluGene Therapeutics’ co-founders and have provided guidance since the company’s earliest days.
“Establishing the manufacturing processes that support new AAV vector development—not just the vectors themselves—is a decisive factor in the commercial success of any biotech,” said CEO Moonsoo Lee. “We aim to grow into a global company on the foundation of balanced progress along these two pillars.”
